Pillar

The system underneath weight and energy

Metabolic health is not a number on a scale. It is how your body handles fuel, and it shows up in energy, in body composition and in long term cardiovascular risk.

The picture

What this looks like in practice

What people describe

Energy that crashes in the afternoon. Weight that moves and comes back. A family history that has started to feel personal. Results that do not match the effort going in.

Why it is worth measuring

Metabolic dysfunction is measurable years before it becomes a diagnosis, and the markers that matter are not always the ones on a standard panel. Measuring gives you something to act on while acting is easy.

What care looks like

Markers chosen for your goals, read as a pattern and over time. Then the levers that actually move them: nutrition, movement, sleep, alcohol, stress, and medical care where a clinician judges it appropriate.

The evidence

What the literature supports

  • Apolipoprotein B reflects the number of atherogenic particles and is a strong predictor of cardiovascular events, in several analyses outperforming LDL cholesterol alone.1
  • Insulin resistance can be present for years before glucose crosses a diagnostic threshold, which is why fasting glucose alone is a late signal.2
  • Lifestyle intervention has been shown in large randomised work to substantially reduce progression to type 2 diabetes in people at high risk.3

FAQ

Common questions

Is this a weight loss programme?

No. Weight often changes when metabolic health improves, but weight is a downstream signal and a poor target on its own. We work on the system, not the scale.

Do I need a lab to start?

Measurement is central to this pillar, so yes, care here is built on real data rather than a symptom quiz. What is measured is chosen for your goals rather than pulled from a fixed list.

What if I already have a diagnosis?

Then you have a treating physician, and nothing here replaces them. Tell your clinician about any existing conditions and medications so care can be coordinated rather than duplicated.
